Bang Bang Salmon is an outrageously delicious and spicy dish! It is also stupid easy to make perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion. Made with fresh salmon, which is coated with a mixture of mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and other seasonings, and then baked in the oven. The result is a dish that is both spicy and savory, with a creamy texture that is sure to please your taste buds.
Ingredients Notes:
- Salmon: For this recipe, you'll need about 3 lbs of fresh salmon, with the skin removed. Look for salmon that is bright pink in color, and avoid any fish that looks dull or has a strong fishy odor.
- Mayonnaise: The mayonnaise in this recipe serves as the base for the sauce that will be spread over the salmon.
- Sweet Chili Sauce: Sweet chili sauce is a combination of sweet and spicy flavors, which pairs perfectly with the salmon.
- Sriracha: Sriracha is a hot sauce made from chili peppers, vinegar, garlic, and other seasonings. It adds a spicy kick to the dish, but can be adjusted to your personal taste.
- Paprika, Salt, and Pepper: These seasonings add flavor and depth to the dish.
- Cayenne Pepper: bring some spicy kick. If you don’t enjoy spicy heat you can skip it
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400°F. In a medium bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, minced garlic, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Place the salmon on the baking sheet, and spread the mayonnaise mixture evenly over the top of the salmon. Bake the salmon for 20-25 minutes, or until it is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
After the salmon is cooked through, set the oven to broil. Place the salmon under the broiler for 2 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned and crispy. Keep a close eye on it so it doesn’t burn. Once the salmon is finished broiling, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve the salmon hot, garnished with sliced green onions or cilantro, if desired.
What to Serve with Bang Bang Salmon:
- Rice: Serve the salmon over a bed of rice for a complete and filling meal.
- Vegetables: Roasted or steamed vegetables, such as broccoli or asparagus, are a healthy and flavorful side to this dish.
- Salad: for a light and fresh side, try Coleslaw with Apples and Nuts or Spicy Sesame Cucumber Salad, as a great way to balance out the spicy flavors of the salmon.
How to Store and Reheat:
If you have any leftovers from your Bang Bang Salmon, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You could warm the salmon in the microwave but I actually love it cold for lunch. This also makes it a great option for a healthy meal prep lunch for the week.
